Joel Rubin, moderator of WVEC TV’s On the Record, and his son Dan, reporter for WTKR-TV Channel 3, are co-hosts of a half hour program on upcoming elections in the state and area to air on Cox Cable Channel 11 starting this Sunday, October 19 at 8pm.
“Virginia Votes 2008” includes features on the November 4th contests for U.S. Senate in Virginia, Congress in the 2nd District, and for mayor of Virginia Beach. It also looks ahead to the race for Governor in November 2009. Interviews with the candidates took place during the 16th Annual Kiwanis Harbor Party and Seafood Feast on October 2 at Town Point Park in Norfolk and include:
- Congresswoman Thelma Drake and opponent Glenn Nye
- Beach Mayor Meyera Oberndorf and opponents Will Sessoms, John Moss and Scott Taylor
- Gubernatorial candidates Bob McDonnell, Brian Moran and Creigh Deeds
- Lieutenant governor candidate Jody Wagner
- Surrogates for U.S. Senate candidates Jim Gilmore and Mark Warner
If you miss the initial airing, the show will repeat on October 26 and November 2, each night at 8pm.
