The Virginian Pilot offered a profile in Sunday’s paper of the two candidates vying for the 4th Congressional District seat, incumbent Republican Randy Forbes and his Democratic challenger Andrea Miller. The title should give you some sense of the David versus Goliath nature of this race.
Forbes, a lifelong Chesapeake resident who has easily won his past two congressional races, is hoping that his record of serving constituents will deliver another victory.
Miller, a Chesterfield resident who struggled to raise campaign cash and has an entirely volunteer staff, is counting on gaining votes from Democrats energized by presidential candidate Barack Obama and U.S. Senate candidate Mark Warner.
You have to applaud the courage of Miller to run in this district, which has been reliably Republican since the 2001 redistricting. And she certainly provides a contrast to Forbes, as the Voter Guide shows.
