Thanksgiving 2008

Thanksgiving

I started cooking Wednesday and will be preparing stuff right up until dinner time 😉 The menu this year is pretty much the same as before, except no Brussell Sprouts this year. The sweet potato dish will be Praline- Topped Sweet Potatoes and the spinach dish will be Threadgill’s Spinach Casserole. Both of those were a hit two years ago, the first time I tried them.

And, of course, the first batch of eggnog!

Last year, I decided not to try to list all of the things I’m thankful for. And I’m certainly not going to try it this year. The Virginian-Pilot, though, has a pretty good list.  (Any list that includes sweet potato pie AND winter solitude on Sandbridge is pretty good, in my book.)

I hope you all enjoy a safe and happy Thanksgiving!

  1. the table looks lovely. Peace to all of you and take some time this season to take food to the foodbank in your area.
We all have so much. We need to help.

  2. linda b,

Instead of taking food to the food bank, can I suggest that you donate money?

Donated food must be sorted through which requires intensive labor. Donated money allows the food bank to purchase food by the truckload which does not require sorting.

While I am sure that all donations are gratefully accepted, you’ll get more bang for your buck by donating the cash.

I have hauled freight to food banks. From what I have seen, my truckload of food gets into the hands of those who need it much more quickly then the pallets of food that still need to be sorted out before being distributed.
