According to The Daily Press, the Newport News City Democratic Committee is hosting an inaugural ball.
For $20 a pop, the public can party in tuxes and ball gowns to live music at the Newport News Omni Hotel from 7 to 11 p.m.
“There’s got to be a bunch of people that as much as they would love to go to D.C., either can’t or won’t,” said Democratic Committee Co-Chair Charlie Stanton. “This isn’t a fundraiser, this is something to celebrate and we wanted to make it as affordable as possible to as many people as we could.”
A 10-foot projection television will be tuned to coverage of the Inauguration Day festivities in Washington. Hors d’oeuvres will be served and a cash bar will be set up.
