What Matters TV: January editorial roundtable

This month’s editorial roundtable had regulars Don Luzzato from The Virginian Pilot and yours truly joined by columnist Pat Murphy, who subbed for BD’s Brian Kirwin.  The fourth regular, Kimball Payne of The Daily Press, was interviewed via satellite from the General Assembly.

We covered abunch of stuff, including transportation, early voting, and the inaugural. If you missed the show when it aired on WHRO-TV 15 Friday evening or you live outside of the broadcast area, you can watch it online here.

  1. good job, vivian, just happened to catch the program.
did not know about the delegate tickets to the swearing in as I was already in d.c. by then.

  2. Eileen, Brian is a Republican. Pat Murphy hates Republicans. Gee – such a “balanced” round table. Shrug. But this is just temporary.

BTW I enjoyed the show too. Be sure to watch next week when John Moss joins Mayor Frank and Dwight farmer to discuss the MPO.

Speaking of which, I was on hear say yesterday to discuss reforming the MPO with Dwight Farmer.

  3. I don not “hate” Republicans. I do expect them to keep their promises, just like I expect the Democrats to keep theirs. I think what you have done if confuse yourself with labels. I am a conservative, which, at one time the Virginia Republicans claimed they were. The balance was very apparent, but obviously not for you. I lean right, Vivian Leans left and the Virginian Pilot has been anti-taxpayer for decades. I think when you look through everything with “political party eyeglasses” you tend to come away from any discussion with confused conclusions and highly annoyed at anyone that possibly has a different point of view.

  4. Oh please Reid, give us all a break. The Editorial Roundtable had more “balance” this week than it ever had. All Kirwin does is mouth what he is told to say by party officials. At least we got to hear from someone who opposed HB3202 (which I would think you of all people would appreciate) instead of Kirwins lilly livered defense that we’ve heard time after time. it was Kirwin who back Marty Williams who supported HB3202 and Murphy who opposed it and supported the candidate who was against it. Murphy won. I believe your personal friendship has clouded your questionable judgement on this issue. We can only hope WHRO will have Murphy back so we can hear the other side of issues, instead of what the party people tell Kirwin to say. You should be ashamed of yourself for making such a statement. There isn’t a spits worth of difference between the Democrats and Republicans, except the Democrats aren’t as nasty! At least Pat Murphy isn’t beholding to any of the party people, like Kirwin is.
