Give it up!

Forecasting the weather, that is. Last night, there was an article on PilotOnline that said we had a 90% chance of snow overnight.  (Of course, I can’t find the link this morning.) The 11:00 news provided reports of what VDOT was doing to prepare for the morning commute.

When I got up, nary a hint of snow on the ground.

The last time there was a forecast for snow, folks believed it. Virginia Beach was one of the localities that cancelled school. Of course, no snow that day, either. But the schools still have to make up the “non-snow” snow day and a lot of folks aren’t happy about it.

Here’s an idea: get up early and look out the window. If there is snow on the ground, act appropriately.

Wonder how much VDOT spent preparing for the snow that wasn’t?

  1. Vivian, the school cancellations on Jan 20 had nothing to do with weather, and everything to do with the Presidential inauguration. The phantom snowstorm was just a convenient excuse.

  2. VDOT will find a way to waste millions of tax dollars without having to find an excuse. Just look at the idiotic “electronic signs”. Seldom to they work and when they do “work” they have outdated, useless information. This is all part of a bigger waste, the “Smart Traffic Center”. VDOT has spent over $2-BILLION TAX DOLLARS on this useless system and it still doesn’t work.

You think they need an excuse?
