American Idol Season 8: we have 36

American Idol LogoSeason 8 of American Idol is underway. Auditions were held around the country, with promising talent receiving the coveted gold ticket and an invitation to Hollywood. After a grueling week, tonight the group was whittled to 36.

I’ve not seen any one singer who stands above the rest at this point, probably because of the way the show has aired so far. There were a number of performers selected that I didn’t recognize, despite the fact that I have watched all of the shows. Way too much exposure was given to Tatiana, who, while talented, is simply annoying.

All of that will change next week, when we will have the opportunity to see the first of the three groups of 12 to perform. I’m looking forward to the season and the next Americal Idol. It’s a great diversion during tax season πŸ˜‰

  1. I think we all know that the Nate/Norman character was trying to do something to separate himself from the crowd since he only had a half way decent voice (if you even want to give him that). His method worked and he’s through to the final 36.

I’m wondering if Tatiana also was trying to just put on an act so that she could get some extra attention. Now that it’s live TV and she’ll only have a set amount of time, I wonder if she’ll continue the act or not.

Even if she doesn’t make it far, if Tatiana was indeed just putting on an act to get attention, it worked. She’s been the talk of a lot of entertainment related columns and blogs. For someone who I don’t seeing coming out on top, she’s therefore gotten a lot of publicity that she otherwise wouldn’t have received.
