There were some good and not so good performances Tuesday night. Three of them were chosen, based on public votes, to compete in the top 12.
First chosen was Lil Rounds, the R&B singer who closed the show last night. It will be interesting to see how she performs in the competition.
The seond choice paired country girl Kendall Beard and Scott MacIntyre, the blind singer with the Bruce Hornsby style. It was no surprise that, given these two, Scott was chosen. But I hope Kendall will be included in the wild card round.
Rounding out the choices tonight was Puerto Rico native Jorge Nunez. The guy has the pipes to make it all the way.
So two of what I considered the three best singers made it through.
With nine of the 12 finalists chosen, the next step is the wild card round. The judges got to choose eight people to compete, from which the remaining three finalists will be chosen. They will perform tomorrow (Thursday) night.
Named were Von Smith, Jasmine Murray, Ricky Braddy, Megan Joy Corkrey, drama queen Tatiana Del Toro, Matt Giraud, Jesse Langseth and Anoop Desai. Have to admit that a couple of these are surprises.
Unfortunately, Virginia Beach will not be represented. Not chosen was Felicia Barton, who performed well last night. I kinda felt she wouldn’t make the wild card since the judges didn’t pick her originally to be in the top 36. Too bad – it would have been nice to have a local – especially one as talented as Felicia – to root for.
“But I hope Kendall will be included in the wild card round.” Didn’t they already select the wild card entrants which you have listed?
Sorry – that’s what happens when you are typing as you go. I forgot that was in there. Thanks for pointing it out.
