Moran on powdered milk

For obvious reasons, I wasn’t able to make Brian Moran’s blogger dinner last night. Looking at the videos posted so far of the event by Bryan Scrafford makes me really wish that I had been able to.  In this video, Brian talks about powdered milk, a product some may not be familiar with.

Powdered milk – how I hated that stuff! (For those who are unfamiliar – think water with a little white color to it. )

Three years ago, I sat down with Brian for a “get-to-know-you” session: I had done my homework on him and he on me. We have much in common:  we are months apart in age, that we both came from large families – he the 7th of 7 children, me the 7th of 9 – and we share working class backgrounds that shaped who we are today. Yes, we talked about policy – and we agree on a lot there, too – but it was my sense of Brian, the man, that made me decide that day to work to elect him the next governor of Virgina.

Won’t you join me?

  1. If you were really lucky, your mama would mix half real milk with half reconstituted dry milk–that is, after we had to sell our milk cow.

No wonder Brian’s so tough today. If he can drink dry milk, then he can do anything!

  2. Yeah — I grew up on that stuff. We still drink it today. I doctor it up just a bit with table cream. (Just a pint of table cream is enough for several gallons of milk.)
