The nine remaining contestants in Season 8 of American Idol got to choose any song they wanted to sing Tuesday night – as long as it was in the top iTunes downloads. The only question for me was whether I would recognize any of them 😉
Anoop chose a tune by Usher. He sounded good but I wouldn’t have chosen that song.
Bob Marley was the choice of Megan Joy. Once again, she looked good but it was a bad song choice.
Danny sang a Rascal Flats song. A good choice that allowed him to show off his vocals.
“Don’t Speak” was the choice of Allison. (Finally! A song I knew.) Excellent song choice and great vocals.
Predictably, Scott sang “Just the Way You Are” by Billy Joel. A lovely song but a mediocre performance. The judges obviously heard a different performance than I did.
Matt chose a song by The Fray. Not his best performance.
“I Surrender” by Celine Dion was chosen by Lil, who has some nice chops but she couldn’t hang with Celine. The song was just too big for her.
Adam chose to sing Wild Cherry’s “Play that Funky Music, White Boy.” Too much screaming for me.
Kris finished out the night with “Ain’t No Sunshine.” In my opinion, the best performance of the night.

My bottom three: Megan Joy, Matt and Scott.
Megan was really, really bad IMHO.
Agree: The last performance was the best.
But will the VFW folks keep Megan on another week?
Megan is a pretty girl, but her voice is like fingernails across a chalk board for me…..sorry she should not be in the top ten!!
Hey – Somehow you listed four names as the bottom three.
Oh well, one more or less, all four do belong at the bottom.
Four names? Um, no. Megan Joy is one name.
