Disco week, thankfully, came to an end Wednesday night with two people being voted off American Idol. The show opened with a dance number, choreographed by judge Paula Abdul, featuring the seven remaining contestants. The dancing was OK, the lip synching less so. I would have preferred a real singing number over the dancing – after all, this is a singing competition. Oh well.
On to the votes. The first person eliminated was Lil Rounds, not an unexpected result. Given that she made it to the Idol tour, perhaps she will get the chance to regain her confidence. She is a talented singer.
What can I say about Freda Payne’s performance? I felt bad for her, but hey, I hope I’m that well preserved at 66. Thelma Houston was better – even though she’s only a year younger at 65.Β Then there was KC of KC and the Sunshine Band. He wasn’t much of a singer in his prime but at 58, his voice has really deteriorated
That whole segment was painful to watch. I’d much rather remember these folks in their heyday, when we were all younger.
Anoop, once again, was in the bottom three. With Kris, Adam and Danny all safe, the final slot came down to Allison or Matt. Unbelievably, Allison was put into the bottom three. What are these voters thinking?
(On the break was that “I’m on a Boat” commercial π )
After an awful performance by last season’s runnerup, David Archuleta, we learned that the second person eliminated was Anoop. He’s had a rough go this entire series, despite having a wonderful voice. I still think it’s because he doesn’t look the part, as opposed to his talent. He has a bright future ahead of him as well.
Thank you! I had so much trouble finding out who was voted off until I found your site.
