State Senators Ralph Northam (D-Norfolk) and Mary Margaret Whipple (D-Arlington) were named Virginia Legislators of the Year by the Chesapeake Bay Foundation. The awards were scheduled to be presented Tuesday morning before the Chesapeake Bay Executive Council meeting at the Mount Vernon Administration building.
The legislators were to be presented with original artwork and Governor Tim Kaine was to be on hand to offer remarks. The
Executive Council is composed of the Governors of Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Virginia, the Administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the Mayor of the District of Columbia and the Chair of the Chesapeake Bay Commission. Governor Kaine is current Chair of the Council.
