  1. Canvass, phone-bank, take some “walking-around” money and go pick up homeless people….

    Just yankin’ yer chain! 🙂

  2. Who should I vote for?! and for what reasons? Im one of the undecideds the poll mentions. Though I might be leaning slightly towards McAuliffe.

  3. I might be inclined to support Moran if his campaign did not seem so negative. He seems like he has some good ideas. Though, I just cannot help but thinking we could use some optimism in these times. McAuliffe and Deeds both have run very positively. Its a tossup in my mind between those 2.

  4. Have you seen the latest Public Policy poll? Deeds would run neck-and-neck with McConnell if the General Election were now, McCauliffe would get beaten, and Moran would be a smudge.

The primary numbers look really good for Deeds, too.

  5. I agree with Ellen. Moran has ideas, but unfortunately his campaign has had a nasty tone. I initially was a Moran supporter, but decided to vote for Deeds. Deeds has run the best campaign on the issues.

  6. The only thing Moran has done is point out the hypocrisy of
McAuliffe. You call that negative? I don’t. Moran has taken stands on the environment. Where have the others been?
I want a true progressive. That is why I am voting for Brian Moran.

  7. I believe the nasty tone to which you refer is more from the bloggers than from the Moran campaign. And if that is your basis, then I suggest you look at the nasty tone of the McAuliffe bloggers as well. I have been completely turned off by the strident, snarky posts of certain McA bloggers – to the point that those are sites I refuse to visit. (Can’t completely get away from them, though, since they also post similar attacks on their Twitter feeds.)

These bloggers decided early on that the meme would be that the Moran campaign was negative. Yet all the Moran campaign itself has done is point out the truth – as Laura said.

In fact, if you look at the poll from yesterday (Suffolk), you will see that the voters believe it is McAuliffe who has run the most negative campaign.

  8. “I want this to be a clean campaign. I promise that if my opponent does not tell lies about me, I won’t tell the truth about him.”

  9. What does Brian Moran one candidate for the Democratic gubernatorial nomination stand for? No one knows. His campaign speeches are filled with “motherhood and apple pie” nostrums. He speaks of his great plans for Virginia in platitudes. Ask him a specific question and he looks like a “deer in the headlights”. He has no specific plans and certainly no strategy to accomplish any plans. Even if he could read some notes from his staff about plans , Moran has never held a management and leadership position and doesn’t have a clue as to how to get something accomplished much less manage a large organization such as a State government.
He speaks of his upbringing not mentioning his community college background and less than stellar academic achievement. When a good law school student graduates, he/she goes to a law firm to learn the basics of the law. Brian Moran can only get a job as a local public prosecutor. A job compliments of his big brother the Congressman. Brian Moran secures a seat in the House of Delegates; again compliments of his brother the Congressman.
What has Brian Moran accomplished as a part time legislator in Richmond? To listen to him, he wants you to believe that he singlehandedly made it possible for Governor Warner and Kaine to be successful governors. Moran never mentions any specifics because there are none.
Now we come to Moran’s campaigning. He wants to be governor of Virginia. He raises less money than any other candidate. The money he does raise in many cases is from defense contractors who are beholden to Moran’s brother the Congressman on the Appropriations Committee. Since Moran can’t devise any reasons for voters to elect him, Moran has his staff attack the other candidates often with meaningless and false accusations. At first, Moran states that he didn’t know his staff was making these attacks. Then Moran who seems to have an inability to expound on anything except “I love Brian” statements begins to read attacks written by his staff.
Moran can not beat McDonnell and is not ready to lead Virginia.

    1. There are so many lies in this comment that it’s hard to chose one. But this takes the cake:

Moran has never held a management and leadership position

I’m not sure how you typed this with a straight face. Moran was Chair of the Democratic Caucus in the House of Delegates, having been chosen by his peers to lead them. IIRC, at the time he took over, Ds had 36 seats in the House. Under his leadership, they went to 44.

Everything else you have written is pure lies. If you are going to attack a candidate, you’d have a bit more credibility if you could be bothered to check the facts.

  10. Gimme a break, Bill. ALL of the candidates are giving motherhood and apple pie speeches — even McDonnell. Better schools, better roads, better hospitals, more cops, more firefighters, and all of our children above average. Who doesn’t want that?

McCauliffe? He’s getting money from all over the place, too. How’s he beholden to, the Clinton Cabal?

  11. Go here. You will see that, in 2008 alone, Moran was the Chief Patron of 34 bills or resolutions, Chief Co-Patron on 3, and co-Patron on another 137.

In the Senate (also 2008), Deeds was Chief Patron on 45 bills or resolutions, and Co-Patron on 75 more.

Whether you agree with what they are doing is a different matter; they were doing what they think is right for Virginia.

What has McCauliffe done for Virginia?
