Great ticket! I really think that Steve Shannon has the easiest race while Jody Wagner may have the toughest race.
Let me clarify.. Shannon can portray Cuccinelli as an extremist and I’m sure hell have a lot of gaffes right before the elections. Every time he seems to talk, the Dems get more and more ammunition. Jody Wagner is running for a position that not a lot of people focus on. Bill Bolling is the incumbent and will probably outraise Wagner.
The Republicans can not defend their positions on HB3202, of which McDonnell claimed (his words) “I was the chief negotiator”, which created not only more government, but more government by unelected(to that post)people, who could raise taxes, and impose tolls. This was found “UNCONSTITUTIONAL” by the state supreme court and McDonnell defended it in that court, thus violating his oath of office (to defend and uphold the Constitution). Can’t defend and unconstitutional law and obey your oath of office at the same time.
McDonnell is toast with Virginia Conservatives! Deeds will be acceptable to folks who find McDonnell unacceptable!
MCDONNELL IS UNFIT FOR PUBLIC OFFICE!
Get over it!
The fact that Deeds voted for it somehow doesn’t make the attack comment. Shock!
It’s amazing how I see so many different names with the same writing style as “melody” and almost the exact same wording.
Well, the salient point here is that I don’t recall Deeds appearing on Kojo Nnamdi’s show (a political radio talk show broadcast by WAMU in Washington) bragging about he brought folks together to pass this bipartisan transportation bill.
Further, McDonnell is the one who is saying that his idea for fixing our transportation problems is using the PPTA. Something, I add, that is already in use today for such wildly popular ideas like the 95/395 HOT lanes. Don’t worry, HR will get yours too when they sell off your bridges and tunnel. Republicans should really be trumpeting that idea from every hilltop.
When it comes to ‘style’, I hardly think you qualify as an expert. If it weren’t for imitation, you’d have none of your own.
Deeds may have voted for HB3202, but McDonnell loves to tell people how he “negotiated” it!
You can not “defend” a law that is “unconstitutional” and then claim, “oh its my job”. He could easily have given this task to an underling, which McDonnell often does, rather than dirty his hands.
HB3202 was so clearly unconstitutional, that it was a former RPV chair who took it to court on its unconstitutional grounds. You republisheeple can whine all you want, McDonnell is done!
no matter how you twist this, McDonnell is unfit for office.
“doesn’t make the attack comment”???? Is that some new “style” of using the english language you just made up? Or are you too busy being a “world shaker” to bother with grammar?
Might want to hone that line of attack a little more, Melody. The AG defends a challenge to a law first, and THEN it is found constitutional/unconstitutional.
~
Not the ticket I wanted, but one I can support.
And will someone please give Steve Shannon a color picture? Thanks.
I’m sure we can photoshop some color in there! 🙂
I got the color picture. (And no, it’s not photoshopped.) Happy? 🙂
“To Brian Moran, Terry McAuliffe and Mike Signer – thanks for running.”
I would like to second that. If people such as these are not willing to risk losing — not just the race, but also their money, time, and possibly reputation — we would not have choices. Although they lost, we cannot call them losers. Without people willing to risk losing, we lose our republic.
I would especially like to thank Brian Moran, who resigned his House of Delegates seat to run for governor. He believed that he could not both serve his constituency and run for governor, and had the integrity to act on that belief.
Finally, June 10th and day I have been looking forward to for a long time!!!!! Now that I have taken a deep breath…….Fired up and ready to GO!
Creigh Deeds is the best shot for a Democrat victory. The amount of cross overs will be interesting. Maybe not your preferred pick, but the best equipped to beat McDonnell.
Scott, you shouldn’t be so confident of Shannon’s shot at AG. Cuccinelli is well organized and has won his senate seat in left leaning NOVA. Additionally, Cuccinelli will get many independent voters. As you try to paint him as extreme, you’ll have to answer why he’s getting support from independents, people in the Ron Paul movement as well as Libertarians.
Many Tidewater Libertarian members attended fund raisers for Cuccinelli before the primary. Yes, he is socially conservative, but the question will have to be answered as to why Libertarians don’t feel threatened by him.
When you do that homework and then you also see that he was the chief person in the state senate behind Eminent Domain reform(protecting your right to property) you’ll see just one aspect of the “Extreme” Cuccinelli that we love. Like your own Creigh Deeds, Ken Cuccinelli has been a strong supporter of yet another right, the 2nd amendment right to bear arms and self defense. I know that many Democrats in some areas don’t like the concept of self defense, but in Libertarian circles, Ron Paulers, rural Democrats, and most Republican groups understand and appreciate the efforts of both men on that. Even as the hypocritical Rosie O’Donnell called to strip everyone of their 2nd amendment, she made sure her bodyguards had guns. Some egotistical blow hards feel only the “elite” are entitled to rights.
Do I agree with Ken Cuccinelli on everything? Of course not. Still, don’t you wonder why as a Libertarian, I see Cuccinelli as a supporter of our rights?, Cuccinelli is extreme isn’t he? Why then do I not support Bob McDonnell? What is the difference? Other than McDonnell running to his unnatural left, there are further differences between the two. When you find those out, you’ll see why some will support Cuccinelli vigorously and also hope you guys nominate a guy like Deeds that we can actually vote for instead of McDonnell. Moran was too far to the left and McAuliffe way too slimey.
At this point, I do agree that Wagner has an uphill battle, but she is a threat and definitely your best chance to win that race. I’m voting for Bolling but, I give Jody Wagner more credit than you do, Scott.
I think Cuccinelli has made some statements that are little too far out there. Check out his opinion on having a social security number. He comes in giving Shannon a lot of ammunition. Shannon also has strong fundraising numbers. I think in November, Shannon has the best chance to win most handily out of any of the Dems.
Thanks to Jon Bowerban, John Signer, Rich Savage, and Pat Edmonson for trying to make the office matter and the race relevant. Good luck to Wagner. Maybe someone could appoint her to a course in “How Not To Be Dull As Dishwater” and they could throw in “People Matter”. and even “How To Articulate That Gay People Deserve SOME Rights.”
As I perdicted
Or even predicted
