Shelia Johnson, co-founder of Black Entertainment Television, has endorsed Republican Bob McDonnell for governor. Johnson, a significant contributor to Governor Tim Kaine, made the endorsement earlier today.
From the press release, Johnson said:
Make no mistake, these are tough economic times for all Virginians. Unemployment is on the rise and families are struggling to stay in their homes. We need bold and innovative leadership to move our state forward and that’s why I’ve chosen to support Bob McDonnell for Governor. He has shown me that he has the right vision and the executive leadership skills that will guide Virginia through these challenging times. He understands that we have to help businesses in our state – both big and small – thrive so that we put Virginians back to work. I’m proud to endorse Bob McDonnell to be our next governor.
Johnson made primary contributions to Terry McAuliffe and Brian Moran, but none to Creigh Deeds. She does not address the disparity in this article, saying only that Deeds’ ideas to solve Virginia’s economic problems weren’t original.
“I have been a lifelong Democrat and I’m still a Democrat,” she said in a telephone interview with The Associated Press.

“From the beginning, Bob McDonnell has been very concerned about the economy,” she said. “He has really laid out a roadmap for solving these problems.”
I suspect there is a lot more to this story.
Funny how Ms. Johnson is a minority partner in the Wash. Capitals hockey team. Majority owner Ted Leonsis is majority owner and head of Businesspersons for Deeds. Leonsis was even at her 2005 wedding to the Judge who presided over her mega-million divorce from Robert.
Looks like a good pickup for McDonnell.

Why does there have to be a lot more to this story. May be she is endorsing based on common sense. It must be a difficult pill for you libs to swallow!
