Add Del. Joe Bouchard to the list of those who would like Arthur Whitfield’s case to be taken up in special session.
Arthur Whitfield suffered for more than two decades in prison for a crime he did not commit. While we can never return to Mr. Whitfield the years he has lost, we can begin to right this terrible injustice without any further delay. Many of my colleagues in the General Assembly have proposed legislation that would provide relief to Mr. Whitfield, and I look forward to being among the first to sign on to a comprehensive bill.
Arthur Whitfield has waited too long for the justice he is owed. When the General Assembly meets on August 19th for a special session, we should use this opportunity to quickly pass this critical bill. With overwhelming bipartisan support, I expect the General Assembly to come together and provide Arthur Whitfield the relief he deserves.
The more who join the call, the more likely the legislation will be a part of the special session. Legislators – don’t be left out!
