Whitfield: Gov “not opposed”

According to the Washington Post blog, Governor Tim Kaine is “not opposed” to including legislation to compensate Arthur Whitfield in the special session. In an email, the governor’s spokesperson, Lynda Tran, said:

However Governor Kaine, who pardoned Mr. Whitfield earlier this year, is clearly sympathetic to his circumstances and would not object to a claims bill being considered as part of a session that is otherwise focused on public safety.

Yeah – took from December 2005 til April 2009 to get that pardon, but hey, I’m not looking a gift horse in the mouth. One down, two to go.

Now to get Senate Majority Leader Dick Saslaw and Speaker of the House Bill Howell on board. Come on, guys. Get this done!
