VB Sheriff candidate Bell on local radio Sunday

eblast_radioshow082309John Bell, the Democratic candidate for Sheriff in Virginia Beach, will be the guest on Carlos Howard’s radio show Sunday.

Bell, a first time candidate, is a Captain on the Virginia Beach police force, where he has served since 1976. He was given a special shout out Friday night at the Black Expo kickoff reception. When elected, Bell will be the only African American elected official in Virginia Beach.

Bell faces Republican State Senator Ken Stolle in the November election. The current sheriff, Paul Lanteigne, is retiring.

  1. Again, I think John Bell is a good guy. I spoke to him briefly when he introduced himself to the Tidewater Libertarians at our breakfast.

We were fairly deep in trying to come up with an alternative health care reform proposal of our own (greatly based around health care savings accounts & catastrophic insurance). Not an easy task. He didn’t seem to mind waiting through the business portion of the meeting. He got plenty of time to address our membership and did well.

I appreciate the fact that he is coming from current Law Enforcement administration rather than a long tenure as a legislator. It just makes more sense. At this point, he looks like the best candidate for the job.

  2. I too had the opportunity to hear and talk with Capt. Bell one-on-one. I found him to be a knowledgeable and experienced administrator. I was extremely impressed with his candor and down-to-business style.

  3. Ms. Page-Just wondered why you haven’t blog about you and Mr. Deeds visit to Rev. Carlos Howard’s Faith in God talk show in which he (Rev Howard) personally attacked and insulted a caller who asked a legitimate question.
