The Daily Press has a story about whether the federal subpoena and search warrant issued to the Newport News Public Schools will uncover more emails from Republican incumbent Delegate Phil Hamilton to Old Dominion University.
I think the feds are looking for something else: evidence of other such instances of quid pro quo.
As I said earlier, that Hamilton could not recall the email conversation is troubling. As I think about it, the only explanation I can come up with is that Hamilton did so many of these deals, that this one just simply didn’t stick out in his mind. I understand his NNPS email address was the one that he almost always used. So with the feds having access to the totality of his emails, they could very easily uncover other such deals, even if the beneficiary wasn’t Hamilton himself.
And before I get jumped on, yes, I think this was a quid pro quo situation. Until Hamilton and/or ODU produces something other than those “invoices” that were used for payment to him, I’ll believe it to be the case. Show me something that proves Hamilton actually did some work for ODU and I’ll be happy to apologize.
A likely place to find deal making would be the multinational toll road operators. A few years ago, Hamilton suddenly took a huge interest in pushing for toll roads, when NO ONE in Newport News was asking for them. It certainly looked like someone had given Hamilton sudden incentive to push that horrible toll road idea.
Citizens should note that now Bob McDonnell is pushing toll roads, too.
How much did they get paid to push this rotten toll road agenda?
“[That] Hamilton could not recall the email conversation is troubling. As I think about it, the only explanation I can come up with is that Hamilton did so many of these deals….”
Politicians just have selective memories. Or do you think McDonnell has broken so many laws he “cannot recall” whether he broke the one he was asked about? Perhaps you also think that Sec. Clinton “couldn’t recall” those Rose Law Firm records because she had hidden so many files in her life. And maybe her husband really didn’t remember Monika because….
What a sad and pathetic defense of McDonnell, to bring up 20-year old charges against Hillary. You really are getting desperate now! How sad to be you!
McDonnell wants to turn over our roads to foreign interests. He was behind the deal for the 895 bypass of Richmond that was sold to an Australian Corportation. He is a protegee of Pat Robertson and will sell you vitamins to you can leg press 2000 lbs, if he thinks he can get away with it.
The veil is off the Republicans scam. The emperor’s clothes are now visible for all to see!
Who’s defending McDonnell. Perhaps you missed my “Lola” comment on that “can’t recall” matter?
I think there should be an investigation of conflicts of interest surrounding the HRTA and HB 3202 that was pushed by McDonnell, Hamilton and ousted Senator Marty Williams. The Va Supreme Court was unanimous in ruling it unconstitutional and these three stooges still have egg on their face for supporting it whole-heartedly. Why did they ignore what even the common person knew? That it is unconstitutional to give taxation authority to unelected officials. The same “transportation package” which was a giveaway to developers was voted down in 2002 by a margin of two to one.
They claim to be tax conservatives but they try to raise taxes through the back door by making others do it for them. What hypocrites!! Some transportation plan!!
Look at the illegal King William Reservoir debacle that these three stooges pushed on the Peninsula citizens for about two decades on behalf of their big developer masters and campaign contributors. Way over fifty million dollars and counting, wasted on a project that wasn’t needed.
I hope the voters send Hamilton and McDonnell the same message they sent former Senator Marty Williams. Virginia can’t afford to line their pockets as well as their big campaign contributors.
Hamilton looks like a used car salesperson. I see his mouth move but hear only lies. I’d bet he’s dirty on many other deals as well. I would trust Micheal Vick with my dog before I would Hamilton.
