Yesterday, September 15, was the filing deadline for financial reports for the period 7/1 – 8/31. The reports are available at Virginia Public Access Project. (Alternatively, you can review the reports at the State Board of Elections site, but VPAP is much easier to navigate 🙂 )Here’s a rundown on the local House races, including a couple of additional races that I’m following. Since there are so many races, I’ve put the info below the fold.
(Note: * indicates incumbent.)
21st
Bobby Mathieson (D)* – raised $70,813 on hand $85,916
Ron Villanueva (R) – raised $41,728, on hand $14,686
For the second reporting period in a row, Villanueva’s information is not available timely. As of this writing, it is not on VPAP or the SBE site. Updated 9/18/09
64th
Bill Barlow (D)* – raised $47,906, on hand $77,505 updated 9/18/09
Stan Clark (R) – raised $24,549, on hand $28,115 including $9,200 loan updated 9/18/09
Albert Burckard Jr (I) – n/a, on hand 5/27 $0
Clark’s report on the SBE is screwed up. Nothing on VPAP yet.
80th
Jennifer Lee (R) – raised $11,159, on hand $8,268
Matthew James (D) – raised $5,090 on hand $17,271
Note that James has amended his earlier filings.
82nd
Bob Purkey (R)* – raised ??, on hand ??
Peter Schmidt (D) – raised $37,874, on hand $51,887
Schmidt spent more than he took in. Isn’t it a little early for that?
83rd
Joe Bouchard (D)* – raised $65,239, on hand $67,794
Chris Stolle (R) – raised $41,692, on hand $26,015 including $10,000 loan from brother Ken
Stolle received a cash contribution of $10,900 from the Republican State Leadership Committee on Monday.
87th
Paula Miller (D)* – raised $15,315, on hand $30,857 including $2,000 loan
John Amiral (R) – raised $30,859 including $15,125 in loans, on hand $13,883 including $29,075 in loans
89th
Kenny Alexander (D)* – raised $14,075, on hand $37,941
Anthony Triplin (I) – raised $525, on hand $60,000, including $25,000 loan updated 9/18/09
For the third period in a row, Triplin’s financial reports are not available timely.
90th
Algie Howell (D)* – raised $6,450, on hand $30,884
Jason Call (R) – raised $5,607, on hand $3,569
Now that Call has repaid the $35,000 loan, his on hand numbers look more in line with what I would have expected. Wonder when we’ll see an in-kind contribution from the VEA?
91st
Tom Gear (R)* – raised $49,695, on hand $45,283
Sam Eure (D) – raised $8,296, on hand $3,352, including $700 in loans
Gordon Helsel (I) – raised $27,399 on hand $55,641
The drumbeat for Eure to drop out of the race hasn’t abated, but the deadline for getting his name off the ballot has. As for Gear, just one question: what did Watkins Abbitt do for you for $10,100??
93rd
Phil Hamilton (R)* – raised $137,301, on hand $207,208
Robin Abbott (D) – raised $68,833, on hand $108,372
Seems Hamilton’s troubles haven’t hurt his fundraising – at least not with the PACs and his fellow Republican legislators.
94th
Glenn Oder (R)* – raised $55,364, on hand $78,445
Gary West (D) – raised $16,930, on hand $22,176 including $3,000 loan
I was really hoping that West would raise more money. Perhaps the research money was well spent.
100th
Lynwood Lewis (D)* – raised $39,627, on hand $51,608
Melody Scalley (R) – raised $12,915, on hand $4,630
John W Smith, Jr (I) – raised $88, on hand $21
As more information becomes available, I’ll update this post.

Seems Hamilton is not only lining his own pockets with his pay to play ethics, he is also bought and paid for by big pharma, hospitals and other medical industries. What pay to play have you promised them Phil for those big bucks?
I’ll give him a pass on the big contribution from the beer wholesalers! A toast to our new delegate, Robin Abbot….with beer!
When is Oder going to get hit with his ties to Hamilton? His money from the payday lenders? The $12000 a month he took for the airport debacle??
