Monday roundup: video edition

Creigh Deeds released a new ad today

House Dems released an update on the state of the races

Sheila Johnson visited Hampton Roads recently on behalf of Bob McDonnell. According to my sources, her visit included a luncheon at the Westin, a town hall meeting and a meet and greet at McCormick & Schmick’s. I’m told that attendance at all events was “disappointing” and that the attendance of blacks at the events was abysmal.  Further, I was told that she referred to Deeds in less than flattering terms.  I generally don’t pass along stuff like this that I didn’t see with my own eyes. But today, we have a bit of video evidence:

  1. Disgusting…. Creigh is a good man who does not deserve the divisive hate that the GOP and their apologist offer.

Today’s gop is the party of birthers, tenthers and haters. Now they hate America only because a black Democrat is leading it. They cheer for America to fail only because their hero, GW Bush is the biggest failure in 75 years or more to squat in and occupy the White House. Failure is all today’s gop knows, therefore, they embrace it like a warm blanket on a cold winters night.

America, Obama and the Democratic party will rescue this country from the deepest and darkest hole, the second great republican depression, their bankrupt ideology and failure at governance has delivered this grand republic. America will win in spite of Republicans.

    1. It was your candidate that started the attack ads. By “birthers and tenthers” I assume you mean those who actually want the Constitution to mean what it says. Yes, Republicans do want that. You do not.

  2. Vivian,

Your “sources” are off…a lot. None of the events were “disappointing” in their attendance, and all had substantial (read: over half) black attendance. At Wesleyan, out of 30 people-and that’s not including Bob/Shelia’s staffs-only one attendee wasn’t black.

Am I breaking the comment policy if I challenge you to attend an event put on by McDonnell’s black supporters, instead of writing things that are…outright false?

    1. Um try again, Colby. You had – by your own admission – 30 people at an event with Shelia Johnson. Are you calling that a success? Surely you aren’t saying that there are only 29 black people in Hampton Roads.

Or maybe you’re saying that McDonnell only has 29 black supporters in Hampton Roads?

I wrote what I was told by people who were there. I was also told about the comments of Johnson, which the video proves are true. Are you saying that’s false, too?

BTW – for those keeping up at home, Colby is the African American Outreach Director for Bob McDonnell.

  3. Considering invites went out to about 40 people for the Wesleyan event..the majority of whom were undecided? I’d count 30 as a success. I’ve got the video if you’re interested.

Shelia’s apologized for what she said…and that’s all that needs be said about it. I could question why it took 1-2 weeks for this video to surface (and on a day when another poll comes out), but I leave that to those smarter than me.

My invite stands. I’m not here to pick a fight with you. Only way to get first-hand knowledge is to see for yourself. If I recall, you’ve written before about the lack of access by the campaign. Still have my email?

  4. So does Creigh have a speech impediment or not? If he doesn’t have a bona fide one then I don’t get what the big deal is about Johnson joking him. Bush didn’t have a speech problem, he just talked like an idiot. If you don’t have a real problem and you sound like you do, then its because you can’t articulate your thoughts properly. That is fair game to me when your running to be governor. If I stammered in an interview, I wouldn’t expect to be hired. Now if it was an actual physical problem, that would be different.
