The healthcare bills as introduced in the House of Representatives are now available online in pdf format. H.R. 3962 – Affordable Health Care for America Act – is available here and H.R. 3961 – Medicare Physician Payment Reform Act of 2009 – is available here.
While I consider healthcare a real priority – as any small business owner should – I won’t get to these bills until after Tuesday. I firmly believe that the closer government is to me, the more it affects me. So my focus is fixed on Tuesday’s elections.
-I firmly believe that the closer government is to me, the more it affects me.
I am going to assume that you think it affects you in a postitive way?
No. The effect can be positive or negative, but because it is closer to me, it has more of an impact on my daily life.
Think about it: how much I pay for such things as water and sewer, or real estate taxes is a function of local government. How well the schools are run is a function of local and state government. How large my state tax bill is, how much I pay in gasoline taxes, sales taxes or any number of other taxes is a function of state government.
And the closer government is to me, the more of an effect I can have on it. I’m one of 125,000 registered voters in Norfolk. I’m one of – what 3-4 million? – registered voters in Virginia. I’m one of how many million voters in the US. The ability of an individual to have impact on our government starts at the bottom, not the top.
to bad the majority at the “Top” don’t see it that way.
To me it’s too bad that the majority at the BOTTOM don’t see it that way.
The turnout for the November elections will be far below that of last November. The turnout for the upcoming May elections will be only a fraction of that of next week’s.
