Crazy Uncle Pat

Time to hide him in the attic.

The transcript (courtesy of Politico via PilotOnline):

And you know, Christy, something happened a long time ago in Haiti, and people might not want to talk about it, they were under the heel of the French, uh, you know, Napoleon the third and whatever, and they got together and swore a pact to the devil, they said, we will serve you, if you get us free from the Prince, true story. And so the devil said, ‘OK, it’s a deal.’ And they kicked the French out, the Haitians revolted and got themselves free, and ever since they have been cursed by one thing after the other, desperately poor. . . the Island of Hispaniola is one island cut down the middle. On the one side is Haiti, on the other side is the Dominican Republic. Dominican Republic is, is, prosperous, healthy, full of resorts, etc. Haiti is in desperate poverty, same Islands, uh, they need to have, and we need to pray for them, a great turning to God. And out of this tragedy, I’m optimistic something good may come, but right now we’re helping the suffering people, and the suffering is unimaginable.

I have to agree with this tweet:

I hope, for his sake, that the God Pat Robertson eventually meets is the loving one I believe in, and not the vengeful one he does.

UPDATE: In case you missed it, CBN issued a statement about Robertson’s comments.

  1. Well, he kinda deserves the one he does.

Maybe our new governor can ask him a little more about this on Monday, given that he’s invited him to the inauguration. Perhaps give him some time at the mike to share some more of the sort of wisdom that shaped McDonnell’s beliefs and thinking?

    1. I looked this up — Haiti is 80% Catholic. Bob McDonnell is Catholic, or so he says. I really think he owes us a full explanation on this one.

  2. OMG…so when the big hurricane hits us, and it will, it will be because residents of Hampton Roads made a pack with the devil to prevail over the British during the revolutionary war? Please….give me strength! Please tell me rational people don’t think this way. Ditto to you..good tweet!!!

  3. Be that as it may…with regard to the post; however; at least “Crazy Uncle Pat” put his money where his mouth is.

You disingenuous bloggers, who appears to have done nothing other than criticizing the one who sent Operation Blessing to Haiti’s rescue, ought to step up to the plate and do something other than ego trip on this blog.

    1. What, you want us to do something helpful like, uh, pray?

      ~

Pat Robertson didn’t send Operation Blessing to anyone’s rescue. It was the people in his org who aren’t focused on being bats)#@ crazy, and would prefer to actually, you know, do something that makes a difference. They do the real work while Pat does his damnedest to fulfill his role as Ignorant Fool in Chief.

Pat Robertson is a pathetic human being who has been talking to the voices in his head for far too long, much like his fellow Virginian mullah, Jerry Falwell. If people would put as much time and effort into actually doing good as they do to propping up the ranting imaginations of horrible people like him, the whole planet would be better off.

  4. I would have to ask Pat some follow up questions to those comments to know where he is getting his information.

I’d want to know Who signed “the deal”? was it an individual Haitian? an influencian group of citizens? Did a ruler make it for his subjects or was it done through a legistilative process? Was that process parlimaentary or democratic?

It’s hard to think an entire nation of people be responisble for such a tragedy.

  5. Wow is he off on history! It was not Napoleon III. It was Napoleon Bonaparte. Slaves revolting for independence equates to a deal with the devil? I’m surprised he doesn’t think that our beneficence hasn’t rubbed off. I mean the US occupied Haiti after the turn of the 20th century. And we have been messing in their internal affairs ever since.

And let’s not hide this man in the attic. Let’s have the Governor showcase him and his lucid views in public every chance he gets. I say it is a boon. If nothing else for pure entertainment value. You cannot make this stuff up. It is nearly as good as Celebrity Autobiography. I bet the 700 Club’s rating go down when he isn’t on. It’s like TBN without Jan Crouch.
