Reminder: Civic engagement summit 4/10

Just a reminder that the 2nd Annual Civic Engagement Summit is coming up on April 10. The details are on the flier (click to enlarge) but the event will be held from 9am to 12:30pm at the Hampton Roads Convention Center. The two presenters are Bob O’Neill, an advocate for excellence in government and formerly City Manager of Hampton, and Bill Schneider, a Portsmouth native and former CNN political analyst.

But it won’t be all talking heads 😉 The event will also feature the opportunity to discuss various topics of the day.

The summit is free and open to the public but space is limited. You can register here or by calling 757-889-9359.

Disclosure: I am a member of the board of directors of HRCCE.

  1. I’m already registered, and attended last year’s Summit. I strongly encourage others to go. Last year the wingnuts showed up in force, thinking we might be organizing a conspiracy, and that may have skewed the voting results somewhat.

I post this comment from a public computer in Newport News. This morning I did recon on the Hampton Roads Convention Center, checking out bus access. For those coming by mass transit, it’s served by HRT Routes 114 & 118. Coming from the Southside, transfer to either at the Hampton Transportation Center (HTC). The 114 is every 30 minutes from HTC; the 118 hourly in the quarter after lineup at HTC.

Remember on Saturdays Route 961 runs every 30 minutes midday for the trip home. 🙂 Enjoy.
