The music of Shania Twain was performed by the remaining six contestants Tuesday night. Twain also served as mentor to them. I actually thought all of the contestants did pretty well, although some were better than others.
After a performance by Rascal Flatts, the bottom three were quickly revealed: Siobhan, Big Mike and Casey. I don’t think the voters get Siobhan, who, as it turns out, was the choice of Vote for the Worst. Big Mike stayed true to form last night, maintaining his crooner styling. While the judges raved about Casey’s performance, it was just OK for me.
Carrie Underwood was on, but only to introduce a group called Sons of Sylvia. Um, OK, but except for the instruments, I’d not think of this group as country.
A performance by Lady Antebellum of their number one hit, Need You Now, followed.
And as if two interludes weren’t enough, Idol wasted more time with a Shakira/Rascal Flatts duet. Seriously – I wish they would cut these shows to half an hour and kill all these performances. They simply aren’t that entertaining. Besides, that’s not why I watch Idol.
Big Mike was quickly declared safe, leaving Casey and Siobhan, who, in my opinion, is the best singer in this (supposedly singing) competition.
Unfortunately, too many missed her extreme talent. Siobhan was eliminated.
Next week: Sinatra with Harry Connick, Jr. as the mentor. With this group, that ought to be interesting.

Grossly disappointed by tonights results. NOT one person could tell me that she is not one of the best. The show has lost color, style and a true star, has it has proven historically. Goes to show that American does not vote for the best talent. Proven by the Winners in the past that had either never sold a Gold record, sold out concerts, or progressed. Looks like the the “loosers” really turn out to be the “WINNERS”.
I AM SOOO SAD I DID NOT FEEL THAT SIOBHAN WAS THE ONE TO BE VOTED OFF SHE HAS THE MOST TO OFFER TO THE WORLD THROUGH HER VOICE SHE CAN SING AND I AM HOPEING WE WILL SEE HERE SOON MAKEING HER OWN MUSIC SIOBHAN YOU WILL GO VERY FAR IN THIS WORLD WITH THE WAY YOU FEEL ABOUT YOUR SELF YOU WILL BE A VERY GOOD IDOL CHIN UP AND CONCORE THE WORLD GOOD LUCK
Although Siobhan has had some great performances in the past, recently they’ve been lacking. She was the worst of the 6 the past few weeks and deserved to go.
