ICYMI: So… that happened

Taegan Goddard is one of of those political writers that I’ve been following for years. His was one of the first RSS feeds that I put into my first feedreader. A post of his prompted a segment on the Rachel Maddow show.

I’ll admit it: I’m one of those who has been disappointed in health care reform and financial reform – because neither of these went far enough.  I understand and support Tom Perriello’s vote against the latter for this very reason. But watching the clip, I am reminded of how easy it is to focus on the failures rather than the successes.

Politics is, after all, the art of compromise.

  1. Vivian, I too believe in the art of compromise. Everyone in a political argument should walk away feeling that they have won a little something-something. In the case of health care and financial reform once again the little folk have been screwed. I am a life long democrat and will never give up on believing in what is decent and fair for middle class America. I have lived in Virginia for over thirty years and democrats in south eastern virginia are very disappointing candidates for office. They are always “me too” republicans in every election cycle. The Mantra of Jobs, Jobs, Jobs is great. But can we have a Democrat who wants more for his/her electorate than big box stores, payday lenders and no promise of a living wage?
