It wasn’t pretty, but the Washington Redskins managed to post a 17-12 win over their NFC East rival Philadelphia Eagles yesterday. Quarterback Donovan McNabb, returning to Philly for the first time since being traded from the team for whom he played 11 seasons, was far from perfect – his QB rating was a dismal 60.2 – but did just enough to help lift the Skins atop the division. The team is 2-2, but 2-0 against division foes.
Eagles quarterback, Hampton Roads native Michael Vick, left the game near the end of the first quarter, after being sandwiched by two Redskins players. Reports are that x-rays are negative but he is sore. His replacement, season starter Kevin Kolb, was mostly ineffective. Had Vick not been injured, it is possible that the Eagles would have been able to pull this one out.
But closeness only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. So hail to the Redskins for this much-needed victory.
It’s a poor division, but the Redskins sit top of it. And the reason to break out the party favors and champagne is the fact that this team is 2-0 (!!) in the division.
Not only if Vick had not been injured, although I agree in the brief time he was in the game he was causing the Skins defense a lot of problems, but if the Eagle’s receiver had caught that last Hail Mary pass that hit him right in the hands.
Yeah, that was close. Can’t believe the guy didn’t catch it.
Had Vick not gotten hurt, my fantasy team probably would’ve blown out our opponent by several points, instead of .78.
A win’s a win.
For just once in my life, I’d like to be able to kick back, relax, and enjoy a Redskins game.
That has never happened and I remember my late Father saying the same thing.
You are right a “W” is a “W” but dang our wins are pretty ugly!
I can’t recall enjoying a Skins game since Riggo retired 😦
You should try listening to the game on the radio instead of watching it on TV. You still spend most of the game screaming, but at least you’re screaming at the color commentators’ completely ludicrous analysis and not at the mediocrity of the offense.
I used to do that all the time – loved Sonny, Sam & Frank on the radio. But once I moved to satellite TV, it was too much trouble to get them in sync. (Tried it last week – the radio was way behind the TV.)
I think that has something to do with the reflex-impairing properties of alcohol.
Ha! That’s an interesting reason, although I don’t think that’s it.
I’d never listened to the radio broadcast before this past weekend when I was on the road. Maybe they’re not always this bad, but this game was painful to listen to.
