Norfolk Clerk assumes jury duty service

The Norfolk Clerk of Court, George E. Schaefer, III, has announced that his office has taken over all of the responsibilities of Jury Administration from the Norfolk Sheriff’s Office. By using existing staff, rather than the three positions budgeted for the operation of the jury office, the City of Norfolk should realize savings of $90,000 to $140,000 per year. According to the press release, an additional $30,000 per year in savings will be realized when the office utilizes the State computer system.

“The aggressive implementation of technology solutions has allowed us to cut costs and do more with less.  I am proud that my office is able to provide long term savings to the city budget in these tough economic times,” said Schaefer in a press release.

Good job on doing more with less! Now if the other offices can figure out how to do the same… 😉
