Monday morning quarterback: Redskins 5-8

The Washington Redskins proved, once again, how to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. There was so much blame to go around it’s hard to know where to start.

  • The missed opportunities to score touchdowns when in the red zone in the first half
  • Two missed field goals in the first half
  • The abandonment of the running game in the second half
  • The missed PAT at the end

The defense kept the team in the game, but they had their problems, too.

All around, this was a failure. It was like watching a train wreck – you just can’t look away.

I keep hoping that the Redskins will return to the glory days of the Hogs and Riggo, but I suspect it will never happen as long as Dannyboy owns the team. It doesn’t matter who the coach is or who the players are – Snyder just knows how to mess things up.

Oh – and in case you’re wondering about that 5th down (not that it matters), here’s some info on that.

  1. “The days of the ‘Riggo and the Hogs’ are precious memories! The Washjngton Redskins should belong to Jack Kent Cooke’s son, John. Dannyboy may know cellular phones but may be not football management.Time to move forward. On another note, does Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys’ fans regret not signing Michael Vick? Have a wonderful week, Vivian!”

    1. “Does Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys’ fans regret not signing Michael Vick?”

Why? And, who cares? Dallas is a perennially-overrated exhibition of mediocrity; if we wanted to idle away the hours aimlessly pondering the hopes and fears of the incompetent management that’s hell-bent on running a hapless and over-salaried program ever further into a ditch, we might as well keep talking about the Washington Redskins.

Otherwise, we could examine the play and performance of teams that actually know what they’re doing.

  2. It’s games like this that make me believe the Redskins fans must be the most patient and loyal in the NFL. Games like this are far too commonplace, and there will be a lot of work for this team in the off-season to plug the holes that continue to plague this team (something I feel I must say near the end of every season).
