Norfolk City Council to Receive Nominations for the School Board Appointments

NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk City Council will hold a public hearing on TUESDAY, JUNE 14, 2011 at 7:00 P.M., pursuant to Section 22.1-29.1 of the Code of Virginia, to receive nominations for appointment to the School Board. The hearing will be held in the Council Chamber on the eleventh floor of the City Hall Building located at 810 Union Street.

There are four seats on the School Board open for appointment and all appointments are for a two-year term. All interested persons are invited to appear. To be considered for appointment, nominations must be received at the public hearing. The City Council reserves the right to establish reasonable time limits so that everyone might have an opportunity to be heard.

  1. Isn’t 4 days notice enough for everyone interested to rearrange schedules to attend? πŸ™‚

    Why are things like this, which deal with appointments to Boards which hold the public trust, not given some notice timelines? Timelines which would allow citizens to gather thoughts, make decisions about interest in a position like this, with no rush to decide.

    Maybe I am just naive.
