More candidates in the 89th

Two candidates filed petitions by 5pm last Friday to run as independents for the special election to be held December 18th in the 89th House District.

  • Lionell Spruill, Jr., who failed to qualify to participate in the Democratic firehouse primary.
  • James St. John, who ran a write-in campaign in the 5th Senate special election

The Norfolk Office of Elections has until 5pm today to certify these candidates.

  1. I have heard that St. John was confirmed, but Spruill was short on petition signatures. I haven’t seen an official announcement, though.
