The superintendent of Norfolk Public Schools, Dr. Samuel King, revealed yet another plan yesterday to improve the system. I have no idea if this one is the one they are really going to move forward on or if it will end up in the trash can.
I know it’s difficult to get schools on the proper track to success. I also know that doing nothing is not an option. But as a non-parent taxpayer, King has made it difficult to get behind him when it seems his plans are ever-changing. Pick a course, implement it and see the results. Then – and only then – should there be another plan announced.
For now, I’m just going to wait and see if this latest plan actually happens.
It’s definitely going to “improve” the schools. The whole plan is geared around rearranging students to make individual schools look better in the short-term while the status of the system in aggregate remains essentially the same. At least on paper this should cause a few more schools to be accredited.
We’ll see.
Dr. King has four children.
