An article written by my father, the Rev. C. Thomas Paige, as it appeared in the Tri-State Defender on the date shown. Continuing our general theme, βJesus and Human Behavior,β we find ourselves this week dealing with Jesus and His triumphant entry into Jerusalem. As recorded in the 11th chapter of Mark, we find Jesus … Continue reading The Pulpit Speaks: April 5, 1958

Frederick decision today
Republicans are meeting today to decide the fate of their chairman, Del. Jeff Frederick.Β Bearing Drift is live blogging the proceedings. I understand it will literally be hours before any decision is made. UPDATE: Frederick has been removed. The vote was 57-18. Have to say I'm surprised. I never thought it would happen.
Iowa state sentor on today’s ruling
Check out this video from Iowa State Senator Matt McCoy, the first openly gay member of the legislature. It's worth five minutes of your time. And here's hoping Virginia is paying attention, particularly Virginia Democrats.
Stolle running for VB sheriff, to face Bell
The Virginian-Pilot confirms today that State Senator Ken Stolle will run for sheriff.Β Also in that story is the disclosure that Stolle, 54, has been battling Parkinson's disease for three years. Last night, I had the opportunity to meet John Bell, who is also running for sheriff.Β Bell is currently a senior captain on the … Continue reading Stolle running for VB sheriff, to face Bell

The court rules that gay … Continue reading Equality in Iowa – and Virginia

Fliergate update: Iwans paid for fliers
Reading The Virginian-Pilot editorial regarding the Sessoms/Obama fliers last night, I wrote a rather snarky post about it but decided I had picked on the Pilot enough this week already π I mean, when the editorial board makes such broad pronouncements, like this: It's highly unlikely the flier changed the result of the election and … Continue reading Fliergate update: Iwans paid for fliers
American Idol results 04/01/09: not a joke
American Idol opened Wednesday night with comments from the judges. Interestingly enough, Simon chose the same bottom three as I did π Now that's scary. Host Ryan Seacrest divided the nine into three groups of three. The first group chosen had two of my (and Simon's) bottom three in it: Megan Joy, Matt and, surprising … Continue reading American Idol results 04/01/09: not a joke
Thanks, Doug, for the laugh

The blind leading the blind
No, it's not an April Fool's joke. In an article about the proposed 8-cent real estate tax increase in Portsmouth, The Virginian-Pilot makes the mistake of reporting that the tax rate is per thousand of assessed value instead of per hundred, as clearly shown on the Portsmouth website. Instead of a $14 increase on the … Continue reading The blind leading the blind
