Between having the beginnings of a cold, the tax filing deadline today and my trip to the Easern Shore, I didn't get a chance to watch the Redskins lose yesterday. And I forgot to even TiVo the game, not that I have time to watch it. Oh well. I guess I didn't miss much, anyway.

Talking about Voting NO on #1
I had the pleasure of speaking on behalf of the Commonwealth Coalition this afternoon at a gathering on the Eastern Shore. It was a wonderful opportunity to discuss the impact of the so-called Marriage Amendment with a group of interested individuals. Every one in the room pledged to Vote NO on Ballot Issue #1. One … Continue reading Talking about Voting NO on #1
The Pulpit Speaks: January 25, 1958
An article written by my father, the Rev. C. Thomas Paige, as it appeared in the Tri-State Defender on the date shown. One has said, and wisely so, "What a man does when he is alone is the measure of the man." No one knows this better than the man who spends many lonely hours … Continue reading The Pulpit Speaks: January 25, 1958
Rick – I’m a must read :)
Fellow blogger Rick Sincere has issued a challenge of sorts to the blogsphere in this post. He's going to be doing a presentation on blogs and wants us to link to him if we want to be described as a "must read" blog in his presentation. OK, I'm game 🙂
Latest poll: Allen 49%, Webb 47%
The Washington Post has the story. The Rasmussen poll also is being released. It shows Allen leading Webb 47% to 44%. I'll have more on that poll once I get the crosstabs.
While waiting for my car to be inspected
I looked at my windshield yesterday and noticed that my inspection sticker was expired. Oops! So I tried to get it inspected but everywhere I went (OK, so I only went to 2 places) couldn't take me. I was advised at the corner gas station to get in line early so I headed out about … Continue reading While waiting for my car to be inspected
Warner: No to ’08
Yesterday's announcement that former governor Mark Warner was ending his bid for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2008 caught me, like many others, by surprise. Until a few days ago, I thought Warner was positioning himself for the #2 spot on the ticket. Honestly, I didn't see how he was going to get past Hillary, … Continue reading Warner: No to ’08
Who paid for that poll?
Yesterday afternoon, I was polled via a live person. The caller was from New Jersey. After answering the 27 questions, the caller said thank you. I then asked who paid for the poll. The caller said she didn't know. The only thing she knew was that she worked for a company called "RSR" and she … Continue reading Who paid for that poll?
OTR: Marriage Amendment
This week's On the Record will feature a debtate on the so-called Marriage Amendment between Claire Guthrie Gastanaga of the Commonwealth Coalition, which opposes the initiative, and Pat McSweeney of the Family Foundation, which supports it. On the Record is hosted by Joel Rubin and airs Sunday at 10:30am on WVEC.
Kiwanis Harbor Party
I went to the Kiwanis Harbor Party for a bit Thursday night. Compared to last year, it felt like there were fewer people there but then it could have been that there were so many races last year that the place was overrun with campaign workers. 😆 At least this year, I didn't see the … Continue reading Kiwanis Harbor Party
