Still kicking

Yeah, I'm alive. Made it through another tax filing deadline with my sanity intact. Some interesting stuff happened while I had my head down.  Hopefully, I'll have a chance to write up a couple of them later today.

No April Fools’ jokes here

A friend of mine and I had a rather elaborate April Fools' joke planned for today. Yesterday, we decided to call it off, not because it wasn't going to be fun or funny to do, but because of the poisonous attitude that pervades the political world these days. What it says about the state of … Continue reading No April Fools’ jokes here

Another year goes by

Robert Charles Paige 2/2/1963 - 4/15/1995. Not a day goes by that I don't miss you, but especially today - your birthday. RIP, little brother.

LWV day at the GA, SOTU

I attended the League of Women Voters Lobby Day at the General Assembly today. I'll have a full report tomorrow, but suffice it to say it was a full, informative day. A couple of my sisters stopped by just after dinner and we got a chance to chitchat … Continue reading Happy Thanksgiving!

VA Beach Sheriff’s Candidates

Recently, the two candidates for sheriff in Virginia Beach were interviewed on WAVY TV 10. Go John Bell!

And then there were two

In less than two weeks, we've gone from a four-cat household to two. Sweetness died overnight. It seems as if once Samantha died, Sweetness just gave up. Over the last ten days, she stopped yelling at me for milk in the morning. Then she stopped eating. The last couple of days, she wouldn't even drink … Continue reading And then there were two

Swazye dies

The best looking guy (to me - sorry fellas) in the world has died. Between "Dirty Dancing" and "Ghost," this guy just oozed with "it." Rest in peace, Patrick. You will be missed.

Opinion, please: should accountant be licensed?

I was pointed to this article about an accountant who was convicted of a hate crime. After serving his time and completing all the requirements of his sentence, he was discharged from probation in 2005. Two years later, he applied for reinstatement of his CPA license.  Somehow the license got reactivated, despite the man's felony … Continue reading Opinion, please: should accountant be licensed?
