This one seems to be under the radar a bit. The debate starts at 7pm and will be carried live by a number of stations and rebroadcast by others. … Continue reading Warner/Gilmore debate tonight

The numbers are virtually indistinguishable, with a large number of undecideds in each matchup. The poll (pdf) … Continue reading Poll shows Moran, Deeds in dead heat

Father’s Day 2008

Another Father's Day is upon us, the 34th one without my own father. My best wishes to the fathers out there. And I hope that all the "kids" whose fathers are still with us take the time to spend some time with them. A special Happy Father's Day to my buddy, Brian. As attractive as … Continue reading Father’s Day 2008

Pilot discovers what the rest of us already knew

In their effort to compete with the "internets," the Virginian Pilot expanded its presence to include comments from readers on its PilotOnline site. Over time, they have learned what the rest of us learned a long time ago: there are some crazies out here: Journalists like Fred Schecker, senior producer for HamptonRoads.com, were initially captivated … Continue reading Pilot discovers what the rest of us already knew

Richmond mayoral candidate wants girls to wear skirts

Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes; Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes; Silver-white winters that melt into springs; These are a few of my favorite things. From "My Favorite Things" by Rogers and Hammerstein (1959) When I started first grade in 1966, girls weren't allowed to wear pants to school, not … Continue reading Richmond mayoral candidate wants girls to wear skirts
