The situation in Lebanon is deteriorating and a Norfolk-based ship has been diverted to the coast there, according to the Virginian Pilot. The guided missile destroyer Gonzalez has been ordered to escort a cruise ship that is to be used to evacuate Americans there. The ship is capable of carrying about 750 passengers.
