Superdelegates acting super

Despite the results of Johnny Camacho's poll, the AP reports that undecided superdelegates are not going to be swayed by the popular vote. Most of the more than 100 undecided superdelegates who discussed their decision-making with The Associated Press in the past two weeks agreed that the primaries and caucuses do matter — whether it's … Continue reading Superdelegates acting super

HR5719: Nixing IRS outsourcing

Almost two years ago, I wrote a post about the IRS turning over certain debt collection efforts to private firms. Today, I caught a blurb in the Virginian Pilot about HR5719, which will, among other things, repeal the law which allowed it. According to the Pilot: These firms have taken in far less than they … Continue reading HR5719: Nixing IRS outsourcing

Biases

NY Times columnist Nicholas Kristof wrote an interesting op-ed which was reprinted in today's Virginian Pilot. But now that it's out there, let me add my two cents. First of all, it seems that these so-called "leaders" want to circumvent … Continue reading VA Superdelegates: Hang tough!

MLK Jr: 40 years later

Today marks the 40th anniversary of the assassination of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. I can recall the feeling of the adults around me at the time. A few believed that he had pushed too far too fast, most others believed that with his death, our plight as Negroes, as we were known … Continue reading MLK Jr: 40 years later

Think your council is screwed up?

Perusing the Virginian Pilot this morning, I ran across an article about the Elizabeth City, NC council: The council has been one member short since Darryl Stallings was disqualified for living outside the 3rd Ward. Councilman Kirk Rivers faced a similar charge, and last month it was determined that he lives outside the city. Next … Continue reading Think your council is screwed up?

McCain’s free pass

While the Democrats continue beating up on each other, providing daily fodder for the media, McCain gets a pass - right into the White House.
