The Daily Press is reporting the possibility that the Norfolk Ford plant may actually be closed early as a part of the "Way Forward" restructuring plan. It lays out the following reasons: -- Ford officials said a fundamental shift in the marketplace, with consumers turning away from SUVs and even the F-150, made the accelerated … Continue reading Norfolk Ford Plant closing early?

No Report: Allen/McCain rally in Norfolk
For the second time today, I'm posting a no-report. No, I didn't have technology failure. Yes, I attended the rally. So why no report? Well, my mama always said if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all 😉 UPDATE: The Daily Press story ain't bad
No Report: NCDC forum
Technology is a great tool - when it works. I recorded the entire Norfolk City Democratic Committee forum last night and then lost the recording when transferring it to the computer! And, I didn't take any notes. Relying on my (increasingly) faulty memory is probably not a good idea. So no real report on the … Continue reading No Report: NCDC forum
ODU Maglev project moving forward
The much maligned ODU maglev project has made some strides. Today's Pilot indicates that they have achieved stable levitation with a small scale sled. They hope they will be able to do the same with the larger train. I don't know if they will ever get this thing to work as it was envisioned. At … Continue reading ODU Maglev project moving forward

Interesting juxtaposition: Marshall Newman in the Pilot

Both of them chose to focus on the opinion piece written by Victoria Cobb, executive director of the Family Foundation, and a supporter of the Marshall Newman amendment. There is a reason they call … Continue reading Interesting juxtaposition: Marshall Newman in the Pilot
Quick hits
Lamont wins Ned Lamont is the Democratic nominee for Senate in Connecticut and incumbent Joe Lieberman is off running as an independent. I was surprised at the lack of TV coverage last night. Given how this race had played out on the internet, I expected the MSM to give it more coverage. As it turned … Continue reading Quick hits
On the Record with Joel Rubin: Moran and Webb
The first segment of today's installment of "On the Record" dealt with transportation and the upcoming special session on it. The segment featured Newport News delegate Phil Hamilton (R-93rd), a member of the House Appropriations Committee, and Alexandria delegate Brian Moran (D-46th), chairman of the House Democratic Caucus. Hamilton's position is that there is sufficient … Continue reading On the Record with Joel Rubin: Moran and Webb
Pilot allows LTE every 30 days!
In a brief blurb in today's paper, the Virginian-Pilot announced its new policy on letters to the editor. Previously, you could only get printed once every five months. That always seemed a bit extreme to me. With the new policy, that time frame has been shortened to thirty days. It's about time!
Pilot plays race card
One of the things that you can count on when it comes to the Virginian-Pilot is their crusade to paint Norfolk Vice Mayor Paul Riddick as the worst person - bar none - in the city. As I look back over the reports of the Pilot over the years Riddick has served on council, I … Continue reading Pilot plays race card
