Reminder: Norfolk Real estate tax rate hearing tonight

Don't forget that the hearing on the real estate tax rate will be held tonight. The proposals can be found here. The hearing is at 6pm at Lafayette Winona Middle Shcool, 1701 Alsace Avenue.

Ford says no

It appears that Ford has basically said no to keeping the Norfolk plant open. Governor Tim Kaine and Mayor Paul Fraim traveled to Dearborn today to plead their case and offer incentives for the automaker to keep the plant open or at least delay the closure. The Norfolk plant employs some 2,400 workers.

Don't forget that the Norfolk budget hearing is being held tonight at 6pm at Lafayette Winona Middle School, 1701 Alsace Avenue (off Tidewater Drive). You can't talk about real estate taxes - a separate hearing for that will be held Monday, May 8. The proposed budget can be found here.
