Labor Council VA AFL-CIO voting NO!

Word has come that the Labor Council of the Virginia AFL-CIO voted last weekend at their convention to oppose the Marshall Newman amendment.

A few quickies

I spent about 5 hours on the phone with Microsoft this afternoon troubleshooting a network problem (still unresolved) so just time for a few quickies. Virginia Beach Today's article about the cost of the convention center makes me glad that I don't live at the Beach. It seems that they thought they were going to … Continue reading A few quickies

Ford plant cutting back

According to PilotOnline, the Norfolk Ford plant, which employs some 2,400 workers, will either "stop production or operate on one shift instead of two until the end of the year, according to production schedules distributed to employees today." The reduction is due to poor sales of the F-150 series trucks which are built at the … Continue reading Ford plant cutting back

Monday morning quarterback 8/21

Well, I was so busy Saturday that I missed all but the last 3 minutes of the Redskins loss to the Jets. Coach Joe Gibbs, though, calls the loss "disappointing" and I figure he knows a heck of a lot more than I do.

Amen, brother!

I opened the paper this morning and it was as if somebody overheard my conversation with Congressman Bobby Scott at the NCDC forum last night. An article by Julian Bond, chairman of the NAACP and professor at UVA, appeared in today's Pilot. Bond articulates the point that I and others have tried to make about … Continue reading Amen, brother!

Monday morning quarterback

My favorite sport is football. Now, obviously, I never played the game, but I became enamored with it in the early 1980s. TV coverage at that time was mostly the Redskins, so I became a Redskins fan. Over the years, I've developed into more of a football fan than a Redskins fan, especially after Dan … Continue reading Monday morning quarterback
