Hilarious is how I’d describe the article in today’s Pilot about former Governor Jim Gilmore’s response to last week’s charge by Norfolk Treasurer Tom Moss and Commissioner of the Revenue Sharon McDonald regarding the increase in personal property taxes the citizens of Norfolk will have to pay.
Moss, the former speaker of the House of Delegates, admits that he voted for the car tax cut, but last week told council that Gilmore “cooked the books” in order to sell the cut to the General Assembly, a charge Gilmore denies. Gilmore says the fault lies with the General Assembly for not fully implementing the cut.
Enough of this “he said, he said” stuff, guys. The reality is that Gilmore proposed it, Moss voted for it and the taxpayers are paying for it – as usual.
I like the colors.
