House delays vote on taxes, local transportation authority

The Pilot reports that the House of Delegates has delayed voting on certain bills that would have provided financing for transportation. Over at Extra Innings, Delegate Bob Brink gives a list and links to the four bills in question that have been deferred for 90 days. (No, Delegate Brink can’t count šŸ˜‰ )

I happened to speak to a local delegate the other day and he was bemoaning the fact that the Pilot continues to refer to the House of Delegates as being the problem with the budget impasse. “It’s not the House,” he said. “It’s the House Republicans.” I agree. The Pilot should really call a spade a spade here and lay this impasse at the feet of those who are responsible.

Oh – and the cost of this little delay? So far, the taxpayer of Virginia have forked over in excess of $90,000.
