Trying out a new look

I have been looking at this theme for months now. What do you think? Like it? Hate it? Let me know 😉

If I keep it, I’ll need a new header. This is the default one.

UPDATE: Back to the old look. Maybe a new header soon.

  1. Too much, I think. The column widths are all too similar to make it easily discernible to me which one was the actual text for the blog, and while I’m trying to read it I’m getting distracted by that big huge red and blue B and the other three columns of stuff going on at the right.

  2. I dig to an extent. I think just three columns would be best and widen the actual content one so it stands out more. Otherwise it feels like I have to hunt down the stuff I want to read.

  3. OK, so I’ve gone back to the old look. I really like that theme but I agree that four columns maybe a bit too much. Without knowledge of CSS (plus I’d have to pay for a CSS upgrade here) I can’t change it to just 3 columns. And none of the 3 column themes here have a customizable header, one of my requirements.

Oh well. Can’t say I didn’t give it a shot.

  4. Hi Vivian. Not sure if you get pinged to new replies to old posts but just wanted to say how much I like the design here. (As it is now, anyway.)

I started using “The Journalist” theme on my own blog and really like it. But as so many people have commented, it really could do with a customizable header.

I’m from the old school of tabloid journalism and want a nice chunky red masthead for my blog – http://www.gothamnews.co.uk

Tried playing around with the CSS style settings but couldn’t work it out.

I don’t suppose you could tell me how you did it?

    Regards, Jim.
