With travel to Richmond taking longer than normal, I headed out early this morning to participate with Waldo Jaquith in the bloggers’ panel at the DPVA grassroots training. Greg Scanlon from the DPVA was the third member of the panel, with DPVA Executive Director Amy Reger serving as moderator. Mike from Blueweeds live-blogged the whole day, including our panel, so head over there to hear how we did 🙂 One correction in Mike’s account: I didn’t get there until right at noon – traffic was that bad. I really didn’t have much time to stay around (besides, the attendees had other workshops to go to) but I did get a chance to meet – in addition to Mike – Eileen Manning from NoVa, Cliff Garstang, who blogs over at Cobalt6, New Kent County treasurer Herb Jones and York County Board of Supervisors candidate Sam Eure, along with several others. There were a number of familiar faces there as well.
After lunch with Waldo and a couple of Richmond-area bloggers, I headed back home. Once home, I met up with Ralph Northam and walked with him for a bit while he knocked doors. Hopefully, I’ll get a chance to do that again sometime next week 🙂
And now I’m watching the Redskins play their first preseason game. Playing Madden on the Wii is fun, but watching the ‘Skins play is much better 🙂
Great meeting you! I made the correction on my post – just got excited to meet you and jumped the gun with some poor woman from west of Richmond. You, Greg, and Waldo did a great job – hope DPVA continues to focus on this type of panel.
It was great meeting you, too, Mike. Sorry there wasn’t more time to chat.
I think the Q&A format works well, since it gave us a chance to answer what was on the questioner’s minds, as opposed to just making a presentation.
Good to meet you yesterday; learn more about the blogosphere and politics in Norfolk.
Hi Vivian,
Vivian, nice job with the panel discussion! Folks I spoke with seemed to really enjoy it.
And thanks so much for helping Ralph at the doors. You and I should settle on a date to knock on doors together for Miller/Northam. You want odds or evens 🙂 ?
You are a tireless advocate for volunteering for our Democratic candidates. I appreciate tremendously that you live what you preach by helping out on and off-line.
Herb – thanks for stopping by! Let me know when you want to set up a blog 🙂
Susan – glad to know that folks enjoyed it 🙂
Yeah – let’s talk about when we can knock on the doors. I don’t know – which is harder, odds or evens? 😀
VP – I am going to visit the sites you suggested yesterday and try to set something up tonight. I’ll keep you posted. herb
Great! Let me know if I can help in any way.
