Follow the money: Citizens for the Commonwealth

The reports are coming in of the distribution of the money by this new PAC which I mentioned earlier. VPAP shows that they are handing out the $425,000 they have raised so far in tight races across the Commonwealth:

S027 Holtzman Vogel, Jill Citizens for the Commonwealth 10/25/2007 $15,000
H068 Loupassi, Manoli Citizens for the Commonwealth 10/25/2007 $10,000
S039 O’Brien, James K Citizens for the Commonwealth 10/23/2007 $60,000
S001 Stall, Tricia Citizens for the Commonwealth 10/26/2007 $100,000
S006 Rerras, D Nick Citizens for the Commonwealth PAC 10/25/2007 $25,000

What’s interesting about this is that the SBE website shows that they have donated even more of the money. For example, Nick Rerras shows the $25,000 on 10/25 but shows that the aggregate to date is $50,000. Manoli Loupassi shows the $10,000 above but shows the aggregate to date of $39,000. There may be other races out there that have received money from this PAC that are not showing up on the reports, since the contributions were made outside reporting window (i.e., before the large contributions rules kicked in). We will see when the next financial reports are made on Monday.

Note that the PAC rules are that contributions to it of $10,000 or more have to be reported within 3 business days. Of course, we have no idea how many $9,999.99 contributions have been made to this PAC. And we won’t know that until January 2008.
