Robert Kennedy Jr. issued the following statement this evening:
“It is clear from the context that Hillary was invoking a familiar political circumstance in order to support her decision to stay in the race through June. I have heard her make this reference before, also citing her husband’s 1992 race, both of which were hard fought through June. I understand how highly charged the atmosphere is, but I think it is a mistake for people to take offense.”
Can we move on now?
Thank you, Vivian.
With all respect, that’s what Hillary needs to do at this point, move on. She’s not going to be the nominee and she’s really just being narcissistic at this point.
Yes, Hillary Clinton needs to move on — to a good shrink who can figure out what’s wrong with her.
No, we can’t. Not until she does.
Maybe a remedial math class would help.
As for Bobby, Jr., well, he’s Bobby, Jr. Go do some research on him.
Sorry, I disagree. Hillary has every right to stay in this race.
I agree with you Vivian, she has every right to stay in the race, that however does not change the outcome. While I knew exactly what Hillary was saying, she did screw up by using that particular situation. she could have used many other ways to get her point across such as Ted Kennedy’s race, which lasted until june. Her reference to her husband Bill actually was a mistatement since he had wrapped up the nomination long before june and California. Anyway everybody needs to lay off Hillary, including the press and move on. the end is a couple weeks away, Barack will easily be the winner and then maybe we can get this ship righted once again.
Right, Gene. But how much more damage can Clinton inflict in just two weeks? She’s accomplished quite a bit just in the last two weeks. Whether she has “every right to stay in this race” and whether she SHOULD do so are two entirely separate questions.
Bobby, Jr. also has “every right” to purport to speak for his family, or for all Democrats. Whether he actually does so, or whether he SHOULD do so, are also entirely separate questions. Like I said, check him out, please, before you quote him on anything.
There’s only two options here Vivian, because people WERE offended.
1) It was a mistake, in which case she has shown that she is too accident prone to run for president.
2) It was intentional (suggested by her prior use of similar wording) in which case she is morally unfit to be president.
Bobby Kennedy, Jr. doesn’t have any special power to hand out dispensation, nor was Bobby Kennedy the only public figure assassinated in 1968. I know it hurts to recognize this, but this gaffe will effectively end her campaign, whether she acknowledges that fact or not. The super delegates she has been counting on to rescue her will never support her now.
Yeah, Hillary needs to shut up and sit down, presumably in the back of the bus. Barack Obama has a Presidential campaign to hurry up and lose.
Hillary needs to stay in the race right up to the point when one of them amasses the requisite 2208. News flash to Obama supporters, We ‘aint quitting until then so get darn well use to it.
This is just one more example of the pretzel factory of the likes of the orange stain, RK, air obama radio and obamermann on MSNBO to take what was said and twists it into something it is not. We all know by know how Bill and Geraldine are ranting racists. I have used the exact statement in the past in the exact context regarding the front loading of the process and the rush to end it.
The Argus Leader’s Executive Editor Randell Beck issued the following statement today:
“The context of the question and answer with Sen. Clinton was whether her continued candidacy jeopardized party unity this close to the Democratic convention. Her reference to Mr. Kennedy’s assassination appeared to focus on the time line of his primary candidacy and not the assassination itself.” The actual interview follows;
This may well well be the butt-dumbest “controversy” of this race (and that’s saying something).
NND:
It will NOT be 2208. Even Hillary’s supporters on the Rules on May 31st have said that. Every political analyst reminds people that it likely won’t be 2026, but it definitely won’t be 2208. This is just another example of the Clinton team not joining us in what we like to call “reality.” From what’s i’ve read, the best that Hillary Clinton can hope for is some kind of compromise that cuts Florida in half and either doesn’t include Michigan, or awards all of those “undeclareds” to Obama before cutting it in half as well. But Florida and Michigan will NOT get full votes. The only question is whether or not Superdelegates will be allowed full votes.
Dan Geroe: “This is just another example of the Clinton team not joining us in what we like to call ‘reality.'” You mean a reality where Obama gets more than 44% of the popular vote in November? ROTFLMAO! What do you have to smoke to join that reality?
Dan Geroe, Don’t waste your time w/ NNDem, that train left the station left a long time ago. Seriously, it’s a waste of typing. Almost as bad as the “howling” one.
I’m going to attempt to put myself on a self imposed blog/media blackout until the end of this month. It’s insane and meanwhile, great Democrats locally like Glenn Nye could use a hand!
Frum, were you in Virginia in 1985? When Wilder was supposed to lose and bring down not just the entire ticket, but Democratic control of the GA? Only it did not work out that way.
Obama is outraising McSame by something like 2:1.
That has nothing to do with I or anyone else thinks of Obama, it just is so.
The best thing we can do is let this thing play out. Let the voters decide.
