OK, so some of us are not going out tonight to hang out and watch the debate. I’m just too tired to go through all of that. But I’ll be watching. And if you are hanging at home, feel free to join me 🙂 The debate starts at 9pm EDT.
According to the AP:
The debate, expected to reach a huge viewing audience, was supposed to focus on foreign policy, a topic generally viewed as a McCain strength. But given the roiling economic situation, moderator Jim Lehrer of PBS indicated he wouldn’t be constrained by the boundaries the two campaigns negotiated months ago.
I suspect we’ll hear quite a bit about the economy tonight, with some foreign policy stuff thrown in for good measure. And from the above linked article, it appears that the campaigns are trying to downplay expectations.
We’ll find out soon enough.
Not in the senate, thanks to Jumpin’ Jim
“This isn’t the beginning of the end, but the end of the beginning”?
Everyone feels better after a nap, McCain.
What oversight bills did Obama sponsor?
McCain sponsored such a bill before Obama was even in the Senate.
He may feel better, but he doesn’t sound better…is it me, or is his breathing a bit off? It is throwing me off, cos I keep listening for that staccato breath in between each couple of words…
Who’s in charge of ringing the lie-bell?
I liked how Obama opened with financial overview:
1. oversight
2. taxpayers have upside
3. none to CEO’s golden
4. homeowners
Place the blame squarely where it belongs – 8 years of failures by Bush – McCain no oversight … and how our economic fundamentals should be measured by middle class
McCain … why didn’t he know that Sen. Kennedy was already back home??? … heck even I knew that … I thought he invented the blackberry
The blame belongs on those who blocked the Bush and McCain oversight efforts, and on those for threatened to sue banks unless they gave out more bad mortgages.
Q2: Are there fundamental differences between your approaches to lead this country out of this financial crisis?
Out of control spending? Who was in charge when that was going on?
I like McCain’s support for the American worker … he must support unions, livable wage jobs, and equal pay for equal work
McCain has taken NO earmarks. How about Obama?
$300B in tax cuts
