OK, so some of us are not going out tonight to hang out and watch the debate. I’m just too tired to go through all of that. But I’ll be watching. And if you are hanging at home, feel free to join me 🙂 The debate starts at 9pm EDT.
According to the AP:
The debate, expected to reach a huge viewing audience, was supposed to focus on foreign policy, a topic generally viewed as a McCain strength. But given the roiling economic situation, moderator Jim Lehrer of PBS indicated he wouldn’t be constrained by the boundaries the two campaigns negotiated months ago.
I suspect we’ll hear quite a bit about the economy tonight, with some foreign policy stuff thrown in for good measure. And from the above linked article, it appears that the campaigns are trying to downplay expectations.
We’ll find out soon enough.
$18 billion vs $300 billion … earmarks v. tax giveaways to wealthiest Americans
Gosh, McCain, what do you know about corruption? Something to share?
McCain has been fighting his own party on earmarks. When has Obama fought with his party?
Tax give-aways? It’s THEIR money, not the government’s.
Lehrer keeps trying to get them to face each other and talk to each other.
Awkward.
You know, McCain should lay off the forced little jokes and laughs. It’s awkward.
Watching McCain call ‘out’ overspending is like watching one of the kids in a larger group, who went around crapping around the place, suddenly stand up and say “It stinks in here!” and then expect to be applauded for that observation.
Wasn’t it Senator Proxmire who exposed frivolous federal spending and handed out Golden Fleece Awards
TPM notes that McCain doesn’t have a flag pin. America hater.
Isn’t Obama planning to repeal the Bush tax cuts? Won’t we then have a tax increase?
McCain actually has taken some earmarks; not very many, but it is not zero.
Republicans don’t need flag pins for people to know they are patriots.
Find one, please, Mark.
Yes on Proxmire, bless that Republican.
I sense tension 🙂
Great!! $4B less the companies are charging us for petrol!
