Finally caved

Yep, I finally gave in and joined Facebook. Not because I have the time for it – because I don’t – but because it’s just another tool in the toolbox of communications. Besides, the email invitations kept coming πŸ˜‰

It was my intention to just set up a page which would automatically post my blog posts here along with my op-eds that appear in The Virginian-Pilot. But it seems that was impossible to do without also having a profile page.Β  So I’ve got one of those, too, but I doubt I’ll be updating it much, except by using the selective tweet thingee to update from Twitter. (I don’t want to automatically post every one of my tweets. It seems like overkill to me.)

But my page (I find it hard to call it a fan page – seriously, who came up with that name?) is where Facebook users, at their leisure, can keep up with me, including viewing videos of the local TV show, “What Matters,” on which I occasionally appear. (I posted the latest one.)

So, if you are so inclined, go over and “like” my page. Thanks!

Now to try to figure out how to turn off the notification sounds for Facebook on my BlackBerry 😦

  1. 1. Go to where you set your ringer volume.
    2. Go to “advanced” or “edit profiles”
    3. Find the FB notification profile and set it to mute.

If you bounce between having a ringer and being on vibrate, repeat for your vibrate profile.
